Join Our Board

Disability Rights Florida (DRF) is seeking leaders in disability rights and/or disability advocacy and services to join its Board of Directors. DRF is a statewide, federally mandated protection and advocacy system for persons with disabilities. Funded through nine federal grants, the nonprofit provides legal advocacy and rights protection for adults and children with a wide range of disabilities. The agency employs approximately 95 staff members located throughout the state and in four offices in Tallahassee, Gainesville, Tampa, and Ft. Lauderdale.

Disability Rights Florida is governed by a 13 - 15 member Board that meets four times a year and is comprised of a variety of professionals, individuals with disabilities, disability advocates and others from all geographic areas of the state. The DRF Board actively recruits members with varied backgrounds in a focused effort to accurately represent Florida’s diverse population and demographics.

Currently, the DRF Nominating Committee is recruiting qualified candidates with demonstrated involvement in advocacy for persons with disabilities as well as skills and experience in finance, public health, military or veteran services, education, fundraising or first response. Board members serve without compensation but are reimbursed for expenses related to attending Board meetings.
