Call to Action: Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Rulemaking Workshops

Disability Rights Florida needs your help with a time-sensitive matter! We want your voice to be heard by Florida’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. We urge you and all interested persons to contact the Division to request rulemaking workshops—an essential opportunity for public input in the rulemaking process. You can request a rule workshop through the Florida Department of Education’s webpage for “State Board Rules Under Review”—the link to request a workshop for 6A-25 will be at the bottom of the page. Please click here to request a rule workshop on 6A-25 in your local area. Alternatively, you may submit a request to Lynn Abbott, the Agency Clerk at the Florida Department of Education by telephone at (850)245-9661 or via e-mail at lynn.abbott@fldoe.org.

The rulemaking process is an opportunity for interested stakeholders and the general public to provide input to the Division on how its policies and procedures will be implemented. On July 30, 2010, Florida’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation published a Notice of Rulemaking Development in the Florida Administrative Weekly. The notice included draft language for 19 new rules. After reviewing the rules, you may find that a particular topic has not been addressed or that the Division has taken a policy stand that conflicts with your views.  There are few opportunities for your voice to be heard in the rulemaking process. Make your voice heard! Request and attend a workshop!  We expect dates and locations for the workshops to be announced in the weeks ahead.
